Attacking the Dummer Street Bricks!
I drive on Dummer Street all the time, like several hundred people a day, and I have long dreamed of cleaning up Dummer Street graffiti. Recently, I did a lot of eliminations on the industrial-style northern side of the street. I had avoided the long brick wall on the south side, which looks like this:

This wall has had a couple of tags on it for a few years. It has gotten slowly worse, and the owner clearly does not care. Finally, I decided that he had ample time to deal with this himself, and I would attack the wall and finish off Dummer Street: the worst popular street in town. (Also, this is right below the northern border and a conduit for graffiti coming into Brookline.)
I decided I would paint the bricks, using three similar colors. I wouldn’t do the mortar. This would mean it would not be perfect, but it would be good enough. Here was the result, after 22 minutes of work:

I was very pleased with it. On the right-most 2 panels, it came out fantastic. The graffiti was light, and there wasn’t much on the mortar. On the left-most 2 panels, the paint was darker and was in the mortar, so the result didn’t look quite as good.
Regardless, it looks a whole lot better and drivers will no longer even notice there was ever graffiti there.
It feels great to have Dummer be clean after looking at the tags there for so long!
